Location, location, location! Windsor is centrally located within the regional
triangle formed by Fort Collins, to the northwest, Loveland to the southwest
and Greeley to the southeast. Siturated mdiway between the state capitals
of Denver, Colorado and Cheyenne, Whyoming, the Town of Windsor is
located along the Northern Front Range of Colorado in western Weld county
and eastern Larimer county. Windsor's western corporate limits abut
Interstate 25, a major north-south regional highway corridor, and the major
ciites surrounding Windsor include Greeley (pop. 86,487),
Loveland (pop. 60,682), and Fort Collins (pop. 132, 171).
Our vision for the future…
In the year 2020, our vision is that the Town of Windsor will have a population of approximately 30,000 people. The Town will consist of a higher density residential core, surrounded by residential acreage developments extending to the Town borders. The Highway 392 retail corridor, and the smaller Highway 257 retail corridor, will provide both basic and unique retail shopping. A half-dozen office / commercial / industrial parks will provide additional services and employment from a wide variety of low impact businesses such as technology and finance. The tax burden will be balanced between sales and property tax collections, and again between commercial and residential property tax collections. This balance will assure a sustainable operating budget, allow for reasonable capital expenditures for enhancements to public amenities, and maintain a superior level of general services including the school system.
Due to increased local and regional development pressues, the Northern
Front Range of Colorado in general, and Windsor specifically, are
expected to continue to experience increasing urbanization in the future,
partly because of ample water supplies in the area and partly because of
the large inventory of developable land in and around Windsor
